My room mate just moved in with me and appearantly there is going to be band practice here( for as long as i can put up with it.) and my 55 gallon is in my living room next to amp's. They are loud and obnoxious really. but my question is how will this effect my tank and fish. There are currently no fish in there but I am re stocking soon.

This question comes up all the time, and there is never any real consensus on how it affects the fish. I suppose you will just have to wait and see how the fish react. Hopefully they can deal with it without incident.
I would watch your fish carefully!!!!! A few weeks ago I lost my Scopas Tang.
After finding my water paramiters were good I came to the conclusion that IT was stress that caused his death. Normaly it is just my wife and I in the house. My wife's cousin came to stay with us her 3 kids 2 days later he died.
And the kids were realtivly well behaved. I think it was just to much action around the tank. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
