Noisy Overflow

Can you give us a pic of what style you have?

My Overflow is very noisy. How do i remedy this???

Cap:

From the photograph you may have a drilled tank?

If this is correct the noise is not coming directly from the overflow but from the flow dropping onto the the elbow in the return fitting.

No it is an overflow box. Eshop I think is the brand. I know where the noise is coming from I just don't know how to remedy it. The water is siphoned in to one part then it fills and runs over the baffle into the second part, where there is a bulk head fitting with a piece of PVC in it. There is a pre filter on the piece of PVC. This is where the noise is coming from. If i put a straw in it it's more quiet, but not much at all.

i have that same overflow. to me it seems more quite without the pre filter. you could also tap into the fitting underneath the overflow with a T and a 90 then run a piece of pipe higher then the overflow box so the air will go in this tube and the water will go through the original tube it should be allot more quite

That looks pretty tight for space. I dont suppose you could fit a durso in there? Perhaps the stockman might fit, not sure, havent used it before, or also the hofer gurgle buster - but I think that might need more vertical space.

Do you have a valve on the drain and tried closing it slightly? Until your drain is flowing nearer its max capacity it will be sucking in a lot of air... usually just closing the drain slightly will reduce the noise. My sump was a jacuzzi until I backed the drain down considerably.

ni i have no valve on the drain. but today i was doing a lil research on it and resad somewhere that you can drill a few holes in the pipe in the over flow. so i tried it worked like a charm........... thank you everyone for all your help
