not enough fish?

I currently have a tropical tank thats 55L I've had a few fish over the years in it but now its down to one catfish until i can afford to restock i bought some plants for it as it was looking quite bare a few weeks ago but they are all going brown and ive suddenly got a mass of green and brown algae all over the place what caused this is it because i need more fish do you think?

what kind of catfish is in the tank?

what type of filtration do you have?

how often are you doing water changes?

what are your water parameters?

nope its not because you need more fish.

my guess is a lighting problem.

what kind of lighting do you have and how much do you have?

catfish is a corydoras, filter im not sure what its called but i have a juwel rekord 60 aquarium and its built in to it dont know if that helps? lighting it says 4 - 65w and have it on for 10 hrs in day, water parameters i will post later I need to check them

If you do not have any plants you do not need any lights. Algae needs two (2) things to grow--Light and nutrients. Take one away and it stops growing.
