I just bought a pair of australoheros oblongum from a fellow AC'er, toddnbecka. I am wondering what I could to help prepare the tank for them (I mean tank decor, high/low water movement, etc.). Thanks.

I dont believe they need anything special. I would get at least a 55g for them. Also you dont need a heater since they are Uruguayan cichlids.

I already have the tank set up. Since they are not an aggressive species, they don't need a big tank, and are going to be in a 29.

I am looking for things like lots of/few rocks, driftwood, plants, water-flow, etc.

Mine are in a 3 foot 46g. They like wood and spawn on it. Rock caves they like too when not spawning. I have some plastic plants. They seem more comfortable (better color) in a darker tank. My tank is unheated (72* now) and they stopped spawning in that temp. PH 7.2. These are very hardy fish and not picky.

I feed flake and Hikari Cichlid gold floating pellets.

I have an AC110 for filtration.

They are kept with 3 small Keyholes, some Serpae Tetras and a few cories.

My male is almost 5" and female about 3".
