I saw some of these at the LFS and wow, they are really cool looking.

Would they be ok in a tank with:

Threadfin Rainbowfish
Bosemani Rainbowfish
Dwarf neon Rainbowfish
Rummy nose tetras

If so, would I need a certain number of them, is a m/f ratio important?

I have 6 in a 120 with rummy nose, angels, severums, black neons and they get along great. They hang out on the top 3rd of the tank. They do not bother anybody and the red flashes very nicely. I don't have them with my rainbows, but I don't think they would bother them.

55 gallon, still in the planning stages but I'm thinking....

6 Threadfin
8-12 dwarf neon
3 bosemani
12 rummy nose

I've just never seen Odessa barbs discussed before really so I have no idea what their behaviour is like.

Skip the bosemani if you want all the other fish. At 4-5 inches (I've seen larger) they are active and need a school of at least 4-6, with 6 being a minimum in my honest opinion. They take up a lot of swimming room.

That will also allow you to increase the other schools. The larger the school, the more natural the behavior.

I just purchased 5 small (1.5in) oddessa barbs.
I have a 29 gal some live and some plastic plants. Have 4 small cory cats and 4 small dino zebras. How long till I can add several more odessa?
Thanks---
