i have swordtail fry right most of the time. swordtails just won't stop breeding :)

lol I understand completely. I had my first guppy fry on Mother's Day. Peeked in the tank, saw a baby, and went screaming through the house after the kids so they could see too. The whole family thought I was crazy, but ohh they are just too cute!! I ended up with 5 females and 2 males. They are just starting to get their color and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

That was one reason why I had to get rid of my mollies. Too many babies for my 20 gallon.

Speaking of fry, are there any good non-agressive community fish that are particularly good at snapping up small fry and keeping their numbers down?

The hubster wants mollies, I don't want a tank overrun with 'em. The easy solution would seem to be finding a species that's good at eating small fry but won't get so big or aggressive that I have to worry too much about them chasing down adult fish. Any ideas?

*Fry are great--until there are gabillions*

Gouramis, Paradise Fish, Rainbow or Red Tailed Shark. Those will all work.

my neons and balas are in the tank with a couple of mollies and i always see the mollies breeding but I dont think theyre storing the stuff so im assuming those guys eat them

Don't most livebearers eat thier young? With my first batch of fry I only managed to get 5 saved. Last nights batch I ended up with 25 or so. I was on baby watch most of the night and made sure they didn't become snacks.
I'm lucky I have a friend who owns a really good pet store and she'll buy them from me when they're ready. I haven't told the hubby about that yet. I want to wait and see if I can con him into letting me get a couple more tanks first. lol :D

Usually the mothers will just turn around and eat the fry. Occasionally you get one that doesn't.
