Hi all,
I have tried on two separate occasions to start a small tank. I first tried the goldfish thing, they died within 5 days of a white, cotton-like fungus.
I told the guy in the pet store what had happened and he recommended Melafix for the fungus and suggested that I try again... So again I bought a goldfish, (didn't want to risk killing more than 1 this time), and again it was dead within 5 days... same white cotton-like fungus despite the treatment the guy told me to use.
I'm not sure if it could've been the water quality of where I lived at the time, and I haven't tried again since I've been here in SC, but I really want to do it right this time.
I only have a small 10 gal tank, so I know I can't get anything large or too dirty (so goldfish were probably not the best choice, but I had always heard about how hearty they are and that they will live through anything, even goldfish bowls). What kind of fish would you suggest for such a small tank (and know that my husband won't let me invest in a bigger tank until I can prove I can keep something alive for more than a week). :shakehead:
Thanks in advance for the help.
