ok this python vaccuum siphon is a pain

Whats the height differnce from the top of the tank to the sink?

well it's going from the top of the tank (around 5 ft) out the front door which is ground level. i always get it after a while, just didn't know if there was a sure-fire method

Are you hooking it to the sink to drain....? The Python is not designed to siphon without water pressure to do that remove the part that hooks to the sink and start the siphon then reattach and fill from the sink.

i don't know if your using one like mine but you can attach a hose to it and turn the water on thats what i do.

It is really easy to get one going. Run the hose to where you want it to go. Submerge 4 or 5 feet of the hose in your tank along with the gravel vac. Pinch the hose so no water can move and take that 4 or 5 feet out of the tank, letting it hang down. Release the pinch in the hose and clean your gravel with the water flow. By filling enough of the hose to fall below the water level, you have primed the siphon.

Works great for me, a real time saver, the Bee's Knees.....:)

yes, i was talking about draining the tank. i do hook it up to my faucet to fill, no problems with that. what i do is hang the faucet end of my hose out the door so the water can drain into the grass. now getting the flow from the tank to the grass takes me a few times. the directions say to insert the vaccuum end in the water and do a pumping motion (up and down). this gets water to barely trickle down the hose. it ends up working, but i have yet to put it in and get it flowing on the first attempt. this was probably my 10th water change.

Good luck with that I just hook up to the faucet and drain and fill using the water pressure from the sink....

I run my water out of the door as well to save water when draining the tank. As another user posted about priming the hose, it works. To note on this as well, if your python has a white lever used to stop and start the water flow, you can close that, fill the hose up from that to the syphon part, submerge the syphon part upside down under water, then open the valve.

Once you get the hang of it, its real simple..kinda tricky to get started tho til you get down how to prime it.
