no, its the: scoop 5 ml of water, drip 14 of x then shake then drip 7 of y then shake then drip 7 of z shake, then wait x amount of time, kind of test.

I bought the Tetratest Laborett because it came with tests for pH, harness, Nitrite, and ammonia. I also bought the Tetratest Nitrate test kit, because for some reason the laborett didn't have a test for nitrate...weird.
 
Nitrate is a bit trickier to test. You need two solutions, adding one at time. Definately worth getting a liquid test kit. After the tank is fully cycled you will still want to check the nitrate every once in a while to make sure it isn't creeping up on you.
