Any suggestions for reputable freshwater fish suppliers (online purchasing or by mail)?

I've heard good things about the fish from liveaquaria.com. It's run by Drs. Foster and Smith, who I get most of my supplies from.

I'd stay away from their live plants, though. My plant-pack shipment was less than happy by the time it got to me.

yeah, but they just wrapped the naked plants in newspaper so the leaves rotted and the plants died. And they squeezed them all into a tiny box, so they suffocated. Plants tend to do much better if you give them wet paper towels and a water-safe bag that doesn't suck the moisture out of them. I've gotten plants from other folks (private parties, not stores) who did just that and they came GREAT.

Sorry to divert the thread, vermilk.

Thanks for all the good tips and online stores. I will check them out. I live in a very small town that has a pet store. However; it doesn't carry any larger fish. If I put small fish in my tank they will be eaten quickly.

Thanks again!

You could try **************** I am putting in an order this week for fish and plants so I hope it goes well. As for BigAlsOnline.com I have an order that should arrive soon that has my hopes high. They have a pretty good selection on many things.
