I bought a catfish for a penny that had one eye, swims great, haven't had any problems. He's a health fish. But with him only having one eye will that effect anything?

Yes. He'll be blind on that side. :eek:mg:

That said, I have a neon tetra that seems to have lost its right eye at some point (I'm not sure when/how that happened) and a cardinal tetra missing its left eye (case of popeye). The cardinal lost its eye a few months ago, and is still healthy, active, and eating. It just doesn't react to food on that side. A catfish is likely to be even less impacted, because of the sensory input from the barbels.

I agree, cats use their barbles - sorry about spelling- to detect food and their taste buds are typically located on them. Plus keep in mind cat fish are night creatures and don't depend on sight.

Wow you folks have lots of semi-blind fish. Invest in fishy sunglasses.

Most catfish live fine without one eye.
