I'd like to request any personal experiences that aquarists here might have with All Glass Aquariums's Mega-Flow tanks? I'm considering one for a future reef tank. My experiences with AGA tanks as a whole have always been positive, but I haven't owned or spoken with anyone who owned one of the Mega-Flow models, so I'd like to hear any reviews folks are able to provide. Thanks in advance for everyone's time with this inquiry.

Everyone Ive talked to seems to like them alot.

The only real complaint Ive heard is that it isnt silent.

I am setting one up now. The principle looks good, in that the overflows are well-placed and the bulkheads easy to hook up. I'll know in a few days how much I really like it.

Thanks for the reviews! Mogurnda, I look forward to hearing more about your personal experience with this tank type once you are finished setting it up.

I did the wet run last night. The flow is great from the overflow, although SLip is right about the sound. The rush of water and ar is rather loud, and I hope there is a way to muffle it.

I am running a mag 9 on the return. With 4' head and one 90 degree turn, it's putting out about 700-800 gph, and the overflow is more than enough to keep up.

Yep--there is a modification that you put into the overflow that quiets it significantly...I'll see if I can find the webpage. I have 2 120's with these, and without the mod it's really loud, but with the mods and the canopy doors closed, it's not any louder than a typical HOB overflow.

OrionGirl, if you don't mind me asking, may I inquire as to how much your MegaFlow 120 gallon tanks cost? I intend on visiting a few of the LFS's in the coming weeks to see who can offer me the best price for the tank and stand and I'm leaning towards the 120 gallon based on my preference towards its dimensions.

I also look forward to hearing of the noise reduction device as that will be something I'll want to acquire if I decide to definitely go with this tank style. Glad Slip mentioned the noise factor as it looks like the the soon to be provided info from Oriongirl will be a benefit to both Mogurnda and I!

Here's the modifications we did to the 120's. Works very well--I stood by the tanks last night, and decided that the fans were a bit loader than the water was most of the time. Everything can be bought at Home Depot, and you don't have to use the street elbow if you don't want, a regular one will work too. Or, you can buy one from the site...Cheaper to DIY, and it isn't tough to do.

The overflow kit for the megaflow is actually a durso these days. There's no noticeable noise in the overflow itself, it's just when it hits the sump. I'm going to try an elbow or two to make the entry a bit more gentle.
