Opinions on underwater lights?

I received a free LED lightstrip/bubbler with my Penguin filter, but that thing is really bright. I can't imagine my future fish enjoying 6 red beacons that could land a jumbo jet. It looks unnatural, but I'm thinking maybe a blue, white or green SINGLE light might add some pizazz to the tank. Or are these mainly for reef tanks? Thoughts?

Here's before and after pictures (I took it out).

That red is kind of fierce...but honestly I've never even considered underwater lights before. I think, if done right, it could add a nice spice! I picture dimmer cool colors (green, blue, white), though. Not runway lights. haha

I dont really like anything that loooks un-natural

As far As i know theres nothing in nature that has LEDs attached to its forehead, and swims underwater. I also dont really care for airstones.. Where are they from? Never seen them in any national geographic shows.

Maybe mount them outside, above the water, as to cast a reddish glow into the water simuating sunrise, or sunset?

IDK, Just My opinion...

I was wondering the same thing. I would definitely go with a lighter color, but I think it could look nice. If anybody has done this please post picks. This is something I would like to try, but would like to see how it looks first.

What about the fricken Bass with laser beams attached to their heads from Austin Powers?

so long as they are designed for use with aquariums and are low wattage I see nothing wrong with using them- it is after all your tank.

I really like this nifty blue LED.
