I have a pair of convicts one normal black the other pink. I decided to pull a few fry to get another pair or two to produce feeders. I noticed that several if th eyoung have blood orange patches on them. It is part of their pigment, so can I breed for this trait? Does anyone know just how orange I can get these guys?

Sorry for asking a convict question, but I have never encounteres this before.

Thanks. I have observed the females with orange abdomen also, but these are different. You are correct about breeding, they won't stop!!!! What would you think if I crossed them with calicos? I have a source and it could be interesting.

It is very common for females to have pinkish/orange markings in various places and not just on the abdomen. Wait for them to grow a bit before you decide if they are calico or just females
