I figure pond owners would probably know the answer to this question or would have the best advice, i have a 20 gallon and i like the oriental theme i see in in big asian restaurant goldfish tanks, i need guide lines on how to do this since i notice that pond owners kinda flow in the direction of that aquascapeing style with the pebbles and what not, i would use sparkly gravel ( seems to be black and silver) or natrual or white or red gravel, want my aquarium to have that oriental feel to it i often see in the asian restuarant tanks and in ponds. thank you in advance

Are you using the 20 gallon to recreate this look? You have two options with goldies, then...

1.) Replace them as they grow to about 2-3" (and do copious water changes).

2.) Only keep one (and do copious water changes).

For the 20g, I'd go with a different fish, like the White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes). They are active, oriental, and basically coolwater fish, not to mention that they belong to the family Cyprinidae.
