i keep an angel and an oscar together, but i think the reason i get away with it is because the two grew up together since they were both just tiny. the oscar is 9 inches in length now and the angel is only half that length but the angel is the boss of the tank, lol.
and the angel is nowhere near small enough to be eaten by my O, so no worries there. i get more concerned when the angel pesters him and the O just sits there and takes it, lol.
i entirely agree. i would never suggest the same stocking in my tanks to others, and i know that the only reason i get away with it is having the fish grow up together, have the individual personalities of the fish mesh well (pure luck or is it something in the Deadmonton water...... lol), and keep them well fed.
and for the record, it was the oscar added as a tiny baby to the tank that had the angel already in it, but both were just itty bitty juvies at the time (last year right around now).
'Angie' & 'Chico' were buds from small for over 2 years. 'Angie' poked & pestered 'Chico' at will & 'Chico' for the most part ignored it. Guess it was one poke too many cause one morning 'Chico' had 'Angie' in his mouth (couldn't close) just sailing along. You never know. It's always a gamble. Mood swings, personality changes, coming of age who knows?? This is an old shot from the memoirs. RIP 'Angie' "T"
