i have had this oscar for about 5 years and he has had no tankmates if i put him into a new tank that already has fish in it will he kill the other fish

another oscar, black belt, convicts they are all half the size of the older oscar and he is getting to big for the tank he is in
You never really know until they are togethor. It's that simple. Mixing cichlids as adults is usually less successful. You are better off starting them togethor young and growing them out in the same tank.
For your situation, I would give it a shot. Just watch close for a week or so. Be ready with the net....
