I was at my local petco and almost got some otocinclus as I can't find it in my other LFS...was surprised they had some...but as I looked closely...the 1inch otos all had like no tails...just the stub with no fins on the tail....Do you guys think it was the genetics of the stock? or something else happened? I didnt get it cause the other tanks all the fishes were on the bottom with ick!

could've been nipped and since healed, but more than likely they are "special"

got mine for $3 each... but they were quite healthy and active... Just now need to see them school with each other .

I have 6 but I counted 5 today... Hmm.... makes sense,I guess. I have a forest of water sprites on the back of the tank...

$18 :thud:

:OT:
put in a 2 inch diameter, 1 cm tall chunk of a cucumber in... my snail's busy chewing on dead java fern leaves and my otos are just hanging around on the tank wall... I have 2 groups of 2 with one solo and the other I don't know...

and one of my water sprites are pearling! (if pearling means some bubbles on the leaves)...

sorry for the big :OT: :bowing:

Sounds like some type of fin rot or something to me. I wonder how well they manage, my seem like they put in a whole lot of energy and don't really get that far as it is. *lol*

No tails

Dont remember what other fish in there...maybe a guppy? The stubs on the tail look more like they were born like that cause there no wound or bites etc...just roundish stubs...
