I found that I had spike in my parameters this morning. Did around a 60 or 70% water change, used prime, .5tsp salt for my 10 gallon.
This morning 10am - ammonia 0, nitrite .25 or slightly less. ph 7or slightly less.
Presently, Params are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrates, ph 7.6, temp 78.5.
I had done around 60% wc day before yesterday, trying to stay on top of things because I've been putting more food in there for my snail, trying to get her to eat..
My tank has been set up since June of this year, and cycled for quite some time, though it's a 10 gallon and I have had a few spikes, or mini cycles. I do water checks every day and stay on top of that with water changes and Prime.
One of my ottos is stuck on the glass, as usual, but I noticed that his dorsal fin and caudal fin are clamped.
I'm worried that he has suffered some damage from this spike.
There is another otto, bigger, fatter, and he doesn't seem affected at all.
I made snail jello yesterday and maybe put too much in the tank last night. I removed the uneaten stuff this morning very early, around 5am, and found the spike around 10am. I have my briggs in a breeder trap to help her heal a fissure that she has.
My guppy seems to be acting as he usually does, which I've never been sure about anyway. He has a favorite spot near the gravel bottom by the bubble wand where he tends to hang out. Then sometimes up in the upper part of the tank, usually about a centimeter from the surface, nearly vertical, head up tail down.
The guppy swims around some, but not a lot. I thought he might feel stressed because he is the only guppy and I want to rectify that, but have been reluctant to do so until my qt is up and running.
I've got extra filter media that I'm culturing bacteria in, to transfer to the 5 gallon mini bow.
What do I need to do to help my otto?
