well all the babies died. we got our microscope in the mail today, but a little to late to find out that our rotifer culture was no good, so I presume the fish starved to death.

I think we had the salinity problem with the rotifers. We were keeping it around 1.011 and I think we accidentally, at some point, put 1.022 water in there and the sudden change desimated the culture.

On the brighter side, we have started a new roti culture and the Perculas laid eggs again today, so next week we'll give it another shot.

Sorry to hear this. Well, live and learn--least the perculas are working hard for you. Did the maroon larvae die as well, or have they hatched yet (I can't recall if you said, sorry!)?

they hatched but most have died as well. they hatched 2 days after the perculas, so they have lasted a little longer. We are hoping the new batch of rotifers we hatched will sustain what is left with the Maroons.

Well, you will have plenty more chances. I have a superstition that anything that goes perfectly the first time will never work again, so maybe this is a good thing
