I've just put a 90 gal pond with a small waterfall and stream outside. The pond is preformed and has a max depth of 18". I live in S. Florida. I was considering a few goldfish. Does anyone have suggestions as to types and numbers of fish and plants.
Thanks

a group of black moors and a couple shubunkin would be fun...as for plants, get some hornwort or anachris for oxygen, and some water lilies or lotus. other underwater plants that you could consider are: water poppy, water nasturtium, water clover. For your border you will probably want some type of grass and umbrella palm, also iris, water cana, cattails, papyrus- for floating plants i suggest water lettuce, azolla, or water moss.
Have fun, you live in a great area for outdoor watetr plants so I am sure you see your pond flourish in no time at all!!!

If in S Florida you might try some platies or swordtails.

Colorful and suited to Florida's warm water temps during the summer.

Sand, gravel or nothing in bottom of platic pond?

Thanks for the input on types of fish. Now I am wondering what I should put on the bottom of the pond. Is sand, gravel or nothing at all best for the bottom of a plastic pond? It's turning out really nice. I especially like the waterfall we built. I am still trying to get my plants arranged and drip lines to everything. I will post a picture when it's finished.

No sand or gravel needed. I keep small water ponds all the time. I just add my plants and bingo, that is it.
