I've been feeding a lot of frozen food lately and was worried that could be a problem. I have fed Hikari mysis shrimp, daphnia, frozen bloodworms and another brand of brine shrimp for the past few days. Also some Hikari algae wafers. I thaw the food first, add it to a jar of tank water and pour it in.

Can too much frozen food be bad?

I believe you are asking if too high a percentage of frozen food in a fish's diet is bad. correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think it is. After all, it's the food they'd eat naturally. it sounds like your fish have a pretty healthy, varied diet.

Frozen food isn’t bad for your fish, however I like freeze-dried better. I suppose it is all a matter of preference and convenience. Just remember to feed your fish according to what diet they would have in the wild. If they are carnivorous, obviously they should be getting more protein matter. However, if they lean more towards being herbivorous, more plant matter needs to be given. Just try to balance it all out, and you and your fish will be fine.

Frozen food is fine, you can even leave it in the frozen cube form and put it straight in the tank. I use flake food too. I try to get many diff kinds of frozen food to vary the fishies diet. Just put enough in there for then to eat in a few minutes so it does not pollute the tank....
Many of my fish like veggies I put in the clip for the plec too.

I don't use any dried foods at all except for one premium brand of spirulina.
Frozen foods are my primary foods, fresh my second choice and live my treat food.

I do make it a point to thaw the frozen stuff and squish out the excess moisture with a paper towel. The "packing juices" usually contain a high percentage of phosphates, and after I squish the water out the Selcon vitamins soak in a lot better.

I'm w/Cearbhaill. I would never thaw any frozen food in my tanks. All are pre-thawed, most are rinsed in a brine shrimp net before feeding. There is nothing wrong with the foods as frozen, provided that the selction is suited to the fish being fed, as was pointed out before. But frozen food juices do contribute more than a little to tank pollution with dissolved materials which the fish cannot eat eanyway, get rid of that first.
