Hi all,
Is there any drawbacks of overfeeding peas to my goldies? I mean, while feeding peas, does the same rule of feeding as much as they can finish within 2 mins apply? can i feed them peas in between their regular meals???
one more thing, as my goldies are quite small now, is it okay if i feed them frozen bloodworms/shrimp at evening and regular pellets/flakes in the morning daily?? or should i feed them the worms two-three times a week only?

i appreciate any kind of help......
thanx a lot

well, it will probably make your goldfish poop more if you feed them peas daily, but as long as you have a properly sized tank for the fish and do enough water changes it shouldn't be a problem. it's not a bad idea, I feed the goldfish I take care of whole adult crickets (the goldfish are all about 8" long).

i would save the worms as a treat, maybe once or twice a week. i know that goldfish will eat pretty much anything that fits in their mouths, but they really should have more of a veggie-based diet. peas are a veggie, yes, but they will probably run right through your fish - often used as a cure for fishy constipation. try leaves of spinach or romaine (dark green) lettuce, diced boild zucchini (cut it into bite-sized pieces), sinking algae wafers, and orange slices as a treat. just make sure to remove the orange slices after a couple hours - all the sugars that are released into the water can cause a bacterial bloom which makes your water cloudy. not dangerous, just ugly to look at until it clears up.

flakes are fine as well, but in order to avoid swim bladder disease, you should sink the flakes. with my brand (omega one) i can get a pinch of flake and release it under the water - it sinks just fine. with other brands you might have to soak the flakes in a small cup of water first so they absorb it and sink before you put them into the tank.

whenever I feed pea, I give them as a regular dinner for 2 mins. Soaking food is a must in my dictionary. :)
