i have a 20 gal tank that has 4 blood parrots and a turquise sev and working n getting another sev but ppl say i need a bigger tank but i got my blood parrots when they were just babies and now they are each about 3 or 4 inches longs and seem to be very happy. i had them in the 20 gal for about 4 months and the sev is brand new i just bought yesterday iand is about 2 inches and is already happy. so what do u think overstocked or no?

Considering the fish you have and their current size, you need a bigger tank.

I will move this for you, out of the photo section, so maybe you will get more input.

your tank is severely overstocked. while your fish may be "getting along", they are not going to thrive for very long. fish maintained in tanks which are too small or in conditions which are too crowded, develop severe stress syndrome. these fish do not exhibit proper color, do not develop proper fin form, do not exhibit proper metabolic development, do not exhibit normal behaviour, do not develop proper musculature, do not develop properly functioning organ systems and as a result, slowly lose their inherant resistance to disease. this results in a significantly shortened lifespan and along the way, lots of diseases for which the poorly conditioned fish is a good target.

twenty gallons is far too small for even one severum let alone the rest of the fish you have. a single BP might do reasonably well with overfiltration and weekly 50% water changes but your headed down the wrong road here.

Blood parrots get to about 8". Severums can get to 12. Ultimately you will need at least a 75gal tank.

if you can't buy a new set up, try ebay (local search) or your local papers, you can get great deals sometimes!

your tank is extremely overstocked. it does not matter how big the fish are now; they WILL get bigger. blood parrots get to at least 8 inches, and severum get to around 10. when fish are voercrowded they tend to get more aggressive, even peacful fish.

you are going to need a 75 gallon at the bare minimum with a 125 being much better for it has more surface area for them.
