20 gallon.
about 10-12 guppies
a sword tail
angelfish
some other fish the size of an angel
i think it's a weather loach, its small though about 4-5 inches.
1 african dwarf frog.

is this too much for a 20 gallon? i just got it from mi dad's co worker. the water is very cloudy, and u can see all this solid waste in it. i tested the water and it was perfect... its weird.
also, i was wondering how often do you change or clean the filter media on the penguin bio-wheel and the Rio filter( it came with these)

and should i clean the tank? like i said, it is very dirty looking.

very OS. The angels need to be moved, just like everything but the guppies IMO. But definetly the angels need to go. Post a picture of the other fish if you can.

OS means overstocked. Sorry about that. Do a small clean, and just rinse out the filters. Not too much, just enough to get some real gunk off. Good luck.

you need to get rid of almost all of your fish.

alone, 12 guppies is pushing the limits of a 20 gallon

the angels will get to big for that tank. do you know the names of the other fish that are the size of the angel? weather loaches are cold water fish also.

clean the filter, and clean out your stock.

from your stock right now, you should keep the sword tail and half of the guppies, and then you still have room for some other, more suitable fish.

make sure to swish the filter in tank water that you drain from your tank.
You may want to if you dont' already buy a gravel vac to get some of the waist out you can get them for a few bucks at Walmart.
Don't touch the bio wheel on the penguin you don't need to replace them.
You may want to just gravel vac in sections as the tank sounds super dirty.
Then replace the water if you are using city tap water make sure to use a conditioner to dechlorinate it.

how often do I replace penguin filter media, not the bio wheel, the screen

I have a Penguin and all I do is swish the cartridge/screen around in old tank water to get rid of the gunk during water changes. If it's extra gunky I have been known to use the toothbrush I use to clean plants on it gently. The only time you really have to change the filter screen is when it starts falling apart.

20g tanks are too tall for African Dwarf Frogs (ADFs). They need to return to the surgface to breathe room air and will suffocate in a tank that size.

Angels need at least 30g.
