Overstocking a 10gal????

Hey everyone, I just have a quick question for anyone.

I have a 10 gallon tank with the following:

4 Albino Blushing Barbs
3 Leopard Danios(long finned)
1 Cory Catfish

They have all been in the tank for a little over a month and are doing great, I was just wondering if that is overstocked, or just about right? Thanks!

IMO, that is just about the limit for a 10-gallon. I wouldn't add anything else to the tank, except for perhaps a couple more corydoras (they do tend to like small groups). But no, I do not think this tank is overstocked as long as you perform the proper water changes.

i think your stocked just right but you could squeeze 2 more cories they like little groups of minimum of 3 - a lone cory is a miserable cory - and don't forget to by a sinking food for the cories!

Yeah I have been thinking about getting more Corys...but i wasnt sure if that would be too much. Thanks for the advice!!! Going shopping tomarrow!! woohoo

I agree with the others, tank sounds good, but your cory will be lonely. The only thing I recommend is to check your ph and nitrites at least once a week or so, the smaller tanks are a little harder to keep consistent!

Got myself 2 more cory cats today, albino ones...very cute. The three of them seem to get along great so far.

BTW, I do test weekly for everything. My nitrites and ph are usually pretty constant...I do 20% water changes and usually a gravel cleaning at least once a week, sometimes twice if I think it needs it.

I do have one question though, does anyone have a good way to alkalinity/buffering capacity of a tank, according to the test strips i have they read at almost zero. Any ideas? Thanks!
