Many here have reported good things about oxyclean so I thought I would get some for cleaning aquarium equipment. Saw Oxiclean (spelled with an "i"), in powder form, in a local store, but the label has handling instructions about using gloves, etc., much like what you may find on typical household cleaners.

So I am wondering is this Ox(i)clean the same product as Ox(y)clean that others have mentioned on the board here? And does your Oxyclean come with similar safety handling instructions?

I'm thinking this can't be right. If the product requires gloves to handle, could it be that safe even after rinsing?

Thought I would double check before buying. Thanks in advance for your replies.

The reason Oxyclean is safe is that it does rinse clean very well, I would guess the product you are looking at is the same product. Oxyclean essentially creates peroxide? I think which does a good job of dissolving organics, and still rinses away. The glove warning is not a bad one for handling anything in the realm of cleaning products. and with all the wonderful attempts in the world to protect companies from ridiculous lawsuits, I'm suprised they don't have warnings on milk yet.

You are correct - it is OxiClean on the container, not Oxyclean - that is the agent used to clean/disinfect tanks. As daveedka said, it is a peroxide generator and it is specific for organics. Hands are totally organic, so skin, hands, etc. should not be exposed to the active material while it is foaming away

eesh! Now I want to go home and check what label mine has on it! Never noticed anything different.
