I have a cycled 29gal that I would like to use to breed pseudotropheus saulosi.

I have ordered seven juveniles from my lfs.

1: Will this be enough to get an adequate M/F ratio?

(I can probably change my order, if I need more.)

2: Would more tend to overcrowd this small tank?

3: Is it possible to introduce more of these fish to an existing colony, if I do not get an adequate number of females in the first order?

4: As they mature, should I remove all the sub-dominant males from this group?

I had a 29 gallon tank set up recently with 6 very small africans...but only on a temporary basis (before we could move them into a 90gallon with some other africans). Personally, I can't imagine keeping that many saulosi's in such a small tank for any considerable length of time...I think you'll run into problems as they get bigger! The three saulosi's that I've had were all very aggressive...they seemed to like their space! Two of them died (got stuck in a filter.....totally my fault) the third is still alive and well (it's been one year since I purchased him) and he's gone from 3/4" to about 4 " in that space of time.
