Im new to this forum, :perv: because im a forum junkie now, :werd: and need to learn about what kind of little fishies i can put in my 40 g paludarium that im in the middle of the construction phase. :help:

A little info..
I want to explain how it is, but would take along time because its quite indepth, :swear: i've been plannin since june and building for about 2 months now. :wall: Im about half way. My next post will explain exactly how it is, if you want to get a mental picture. :turtle: Christmas i will get a camera and will post a finished product hopefully.
If i did my math right, its roughly 11 gallons of water, its going to be about 3-4 inches deep, and was wondering if there are any fish, snails (that wont eat plants) or freshwater shrimp? that i could put in there.

I guess i'll write it here. I will have a sump tank, a pool where the water goes to first, goes over a waterfall, then through a stream over another waterfall, into a pool, and finally falling again into the last pool. That wasn't as long as i thought it was going to be.

I figured i dont need to do what i originally planned for on the waterside, so i was wondering how you guys setup the area around the drain also, like egg crate with some fine mesh around it, then just pile the sand on top, or WHAT?!

Anyways, thanks aaron

Oh yeah, a Poison dart frog, thats why it wasn't so long.

If i decide on putting this cedar root in there i will have the first pond area i mentioned, and if i dont, then it will look like the water emerges from an underground stream. I will let it cycle without any animals for a year, to grow in, and learn more about the frogs, maybe getting the waterside animals after about a month or 2. I want the land side to completely grow in before i introduce the frogs, because moss could cover the cedar by then, and hopefully not bother them, satisfying both me and the frogs.

true, if they dont have an easily acessable way of getting out, the whole pond area will be very sloped, so the only way they could is if they keep swimming into the glass.

yeah, im not even for sure if i am going to get one or a few, but i definantly want some. some people on other forums have said they are fine with sloping edges in water thats around 3 inches, and they arn't even what i consider to be a slope. the deepest one person said was 11 inches with a good slope all the way around. the way im building mine, im not worried about the safety of the frogs, besides the part with the cedar.

no one has suggestions about how to setup the drainage on the waterbase side?
