If 1 of my fish sick has a fungas or parasite, should i try Coppersafe, or another mardel product? As another user said earlier it has a hollow stomach and tail rot from a fungas or parasite.
Some medicines can get pricey. It would be used in a 55g tank.

My GT male got sick after feeding live goldfish.
He got pretty skinny and his appetite went to eating every three or four days.
I finally caught him with some stringy white feces. So I picked up some
"gel-tek ULTRA CURE PX" that is a treatment for internal parasites.
It stays clumped together in the water for small fish to eat. Or you can take your fish's favorite food and put the recommended amount of drops on it and mix it into a little ball. You might wear non-toxic latex glove when doing this.

My GT regained his appetite within two days. He is doing fine now and it is almost a year since. I also used a dose of jungle parasite clear for the water to kill off water-born parasites. I did not quarantine the fish. I treated the entire tank.

Hollow stomach can be associated with intestinal parasites. Use levamisole hydrochloride or fenbendazole for this case. As far as tail rot is concerned, do plenty of water changes. I would rather you treat the parasite problem first as the water changes can help prevent the progress of tail rot. You can treat the tail rot with Binox afterwards.
 
what is levamisole hydrochloride and fenbendazole? Is a ingredent in medicine or the medicine itself? Just curious.

Check this one for more information on levamisole hydrochloride. I don't think fenbendazole is there at the moment but I'll gladly the information there when I have time. Just to clarify matters, you are looking for the levamisole hydrochloride itself. They are sold in different names such as Levasole.

What medicine or product would be best if not sure if its either a bacterial infection or parasites? thanks

this is all you should ever need granted you have salt, a heater, proper filtration, and do regular waterchanges. Thats it.
 
Hey...how long have you had the fish that are getting sick?
Some breeders sell young stock before the natural culling process.
When you end up with these fish they will last a while but they slowly waste away.
Nothing will save them. They can give the illusion of fungal/parasite probs.

Good breeders will raise their fish just long enough to cull these fish that won't make it.
 
Parasites and fungus are generally two very different problems.

and their treatment is different.

some 'fin rot' is attributed to protozoa infestation and is treatable with some normal anti parasite meds. others may be bacterial in nature and the anti parsite treament may have little to no effect.

generally, bacterial issues are treated with anti biotics. be aware that there are gram - and gram + bacteria and their treatment may require the use of different meds.
as for parsites..the same can be true..some parasites are not affected by some antiparasite meds.prazi and metro are comonly used but ineffective on some parasites. in general tho they are fairly effective.
camillanus ans capillaria are treatable with the use of Levamisole HCl , fenbendazol and flubendazole.

these may at time prove difficlut to aquire.(particualary Levamisole aka levasole)
