never messed with one but many online vendors (and some local stores) will have parts for filters, maybe you can fix it without having to completely replace it. You might even be able to buy them directly from the manufacturer. Kyle
 
google for places that sell parts for the 404 or contact hagan. there's really only one way to know whether the impeller will work without those tabs ... try it out. the centrifugal force just might keep it in place.

in my hast i lost the end caps. this is turning out to be a bad day.
 
The one thing I do like about marineland (the magnum canisters) is they have a full breakdown of parts and a great customer service center. They have sent me more parts free of cost even though I did not have my receipt.
