I agree completely. SOP aside, there's such a thing as common sense, and decency, things that officer apparently lacks. Being, a young male minority, my conception of police officers is probably a bit different from most, but without going too far into things, let me just say these few things.
With greater power comes greater responsibility. Police MUST be held to a higher standard than the rest of us, or else what's the point. If you want to uphold the law, or be an agent of the law, you better put it upon yourself to be the best example of a law abiding citizen that you can be. Though this doesn't relate directly to this case seeing as how the officer likely didn't violate anything beyond the laws of human decency, it goes far to explain why we only hear about the bad cops and not the "good" ones. The good ones are simply just doing what they're paid to, while the bad ones are violating the trust of not just the people but the government as well.
