So Jose and I are planning to get a few pea puffers.. i heard that they can be troublesome with some fish though. Our tank has:
2 guppies
2 gouramis
3 panda cories.
Good or bad idea?

I want to at least try it out.

Bad idea, but pea puffers are fun fish. You could always set up a 10 gal tank to house a couple. They can be hit or miss in a community tank.

Would they bother our other fish or would our other fish bother them??
If it's trial and error I think I will try..

The puffers can be aggressive. They are likely to nip the fins of your other fish, and they have teeth to do it with. The fish you have should not be a threat to them.
I would have a back up tank ready.
What size is your community tank?

i'm gonna have to go with a definite no on this one, put one in my tank and had neon tetras in there (with other fish), the puffer was fine for a day or 2 but once it got really bored I woke up next morning to all the tetras having really bad nipped fins, so I took the tetras back, if you have bigger semi aggressive fish, as my tank, the pea puffer would do fine. definitely one of my favorite fish in the tank, I still have a platy and a black balloon belly molly in the tank (one of the first fish in my tank before going all semi aggressive) and the puffer starting nipping at the platys fins but surprisingly I saw the molly actually start nipping at the puffer when it would come close to the platy which I thought was kinda cool. after that everythings been good, odd group I know but its been working and I like it a lot. I think a couple pea puffers in the 10g is a really good idea, or maybe even a couple figure 8 puffers?

I'll ditto the 10 gallon as a species tank. I had 2 when I first got them, and one was a lot smaller. He died from IP I think- but he got majorly bullied by the bigger one. They're so small you don't think they'd be aggressive. But I don't think it's worth the risk.

A 10 gallon can be a nice little species tank, maybe even add some ottos.

ETA: Sometimes I think it's worth the risk to try a fish, but in this case we're talking one that could shred a lotta fins in short order. That's a pretty big negative, I'd say.
