I've read about aquariests having trouble getting their peacock eels to come out of hiding.
Aside of feeding them cut up night crawlers..Wich is a good way to get them free swimming. I have found that if you get a clump of hornwort floating on one end of your tank along with a good breeding population of guppies, the eel's will start hanging out in the floating plants to feast on guppy fry and young.
They are crazy about it. It is fun watching them. They strike like a snake in a way. Since they have discovered the taste of guppy fry they have been up on top hunting 24-7 going on four days now.
They have noticably been learning to hunt together. One or two will sit together and the other will swim around nearby to scare the panicked fish towards the others.
They don't seem to want to stop until every guppy that fits in their mouth is eaten.
I hope people with these guys can use this info!
