Pearl Gourami--Need help

How can you tell them apart, male from female? LFS cannot tell them apart. I would like to buy 1 male and two females but....

I believe the female will have a shorter and more rounded dorsal fin and the male will have a longer and more pointed dorsal fin

Male may have (it should but frequently in pet shops you can't see this difference) the dorsal fin longer and a bit more pointy and should be a bit more reddish. And females have a wider belly.

First one is a male, the other one female. Of course, the male will not look like this in your LFS. When I got mine I let the fat belly of the females guide me.
