Pebble dust on Betta!

Long story... my Betta isn't moving to the cycling 10g as planned, and instead, moving to a 2.5g. Anyways, I had just put new red stone in the 2.5g (after rinsing it repeatedly until the water ran clear), and it was red and cloudy. I wasn't planning on moving him from his 1g for at least another week. I came home from a day trip and my dad had dumped him into the 2.5g, rinsed out the 1g, and thought he was doing me a favor. Aargggh. I'm only visiting for 2 weeks and brought the Betta with me because my fiance says he's too complicated for him. Anyways, (I'm rambling) will the dust from the pebbles hurt him? Will it come off by itself? If not, how do I get it off without stressing him out completely? :help:
 
Most of the "dust" used on these products is non-toxic. Personally , I would buy a higher quality brand and then remove the red stone/rinse out the tank very thoroughly (just put your betta in a large paper cup of the same water for a few minutes).

As far as your fiance goes- what the hell does "too complicated" have to do with taking care of your betta? Can't he just care for it while you're away? It's a beautiful little betta- not an Oscar.
 
"too complicated" just means he couldn't rely on an automatic feeder ;) The dust is all settled/filtered out. I put in a new filter cartridge just to catch the dust particles and will put his other filter cartridge (what little good bacteria I can offer after my dad rinsed and emptied the other tank) back in in a day or so.
 
you could get away with only feeding a betta twice a week if you were on vaction, their stomachs are only the size of their eyeballs....(think about that next time you feed them 5 little food pellets)
 
What I'm more concerned about is about the dust that is still on his body after 24 hours now. InR Reason says that it's non-toxic, but I'm just worried about the long term effects. There is less on him than there was yesterday, but it still worries me.
