Does anyone know how to make this thing quieter? I have one for a 55g. and no matter where I put the water level it sounds like an elephant peeing!

Quieter?

I have a MarineLabs Penguin Bio-Wheel 350 and its extremely quiet. The only time it gets loud is if I leave one of the covers loose.

I have a penguin bio-wheel 150 ( can adjust the water kevel to control noise)on my 29 and this one is a 200, and I can't seem to do anything about the water fall noise. It's making me look up eheim ecco 2234's. I know I will eventually get one but I just dropped a alot of paper on setting up my 55 so it will have to wait . Does anyone else have this problem with a 200?

Well as far as water noise is concerned the water level on mine is practically at the bottom of the water "ramp". I have no noise.

I've tried the water line to where it was dropping off the ramp up to almost submerging the ramp. Maybe it does just need to be broken in, but I don't see how running it longer will alleviate the noise.

Wish I knew.. what to tell you. The 200 is one of the "new" models and from all the research I did when first getting my 45G tank, its a great filter. It has never given me a prob.

Is there anything pressing up against it? is it sitting correctly on the tank? Is the wheel and filter tube installed correctly?

Yes everything is hooked up right- I'm sure, and no obstructions. Right on- I guess I'll give it a few days. I'm easily annoyed, and this noise is unfortunately doing a good job of it. Thanks for the replies.

Dude

Dude, just let it set for awhile, i've used a penguin on everyone of tanks, but my big tank, and they are generally loud for a bit, a week to two weeks, but after that they quiet down, it'll start flowing less out of the outlet, and the wheel won't turn as fast that's all normal
