Ok its been like 4 days since I set up my 10gal. Went to LFS and purchased a freshwater master kit and here are the readings

pH:7.4
Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
kH:125ppm
gH:125ppm

Is this normal? I have 2 black skirt tetras and 2 zebra danios in the tanks and 2 live plants. Cant remember there name off hand. There red at the bottom and green at the top. Anyone have any ideas on the conditions in the tank? Or is everything fine?

Your water is fine for the fish in question. Your GH (general hardness) is in the moderate-high moderate range, meaning it's not terribly hard, but not soft by any means either.

Your KH (carbonate hardness, used as an index of the water's buffering capacity, or it's ability to resist changes in pH) is low moderate and sufficient to keep your water's pH stable.

The absence of ammonia and nitrites could be due to the fact that the plants are sucking it up as fast as it's being produced by the fish. As the tank ages, or if you add any more fish, you may see a slight rise in ammonia levels, followed a couple of weeks later by a slight rise in nitrite. If you keep ammonia below 1 ppm and the nitrite below .5 ppm by doing water changes, your fish will appreciate it.

Your tank is now stocked such that you might not see any ammonia peak. That would be ideal.

Good luck with your tank and feel free to ask any other questions you have for us.

So with everything pretty much stable would I be able to add 4 more fish? And what are some good things to give the plants? Do they make fertalizer or something for them?

For the plant questions, you might want to visit the plant forum... they'll be able to give you better help.

Re: adding fish, I'd only add them a couple at a time. If you add four, you'll be doubling the bioload and putting the fish at risk for exposure to ammonia.

Good luck!
