Perfect water cleaner

Gallons Per Day

Petsmart used to sell a filter you screwed onto your hose and it filtered out the things you are concerned with. I could swear it was under a 100

API makes their Tap Water Filter, which is a deionizer. It'll cost a lot less up front, but over the long haul your cost per gallon will be A LOT higher than if you save up and buy an RO system.

GPD is Gallons Per Day
It is the number of gallons of water a Reverse Osmosis unit can produce in 24 hours.
RO water should be pure with no chemicals or mineral content. The reality of life is not quite that good.
RO systems that use carbon block filters are thought to remove chloramines, but granular carbon filter modules do not remove chloramines.

If you watch the RO/DI videos at http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/brs-tv
you will become a lot more familiar with what a good RO system can do, and what is involved in choosing the components.

Hi
Are you considering this for a pond?? Certainly not necessary . are you using city supplied tap water?? If so about the only thing to be concerned with is chlorine compounds . Thics can be handled with either dechlors or keep water additions at less than 10 percent once established. gary

I am in the suburbs and using this for a pond

Then RO or even DI is over kill and would cost more than you want, in media alone.
Use a good pond dechlorinator (Prime for Ponds) and don't be very concerned about the minerals in the water. The first heavy rain will add more of lots of things, than you want to think about.
