Ive developed a routine for the periodic cleaning of my probe's pick-up. Maintenance was becoming a pain and my CO2 had to be off longer during soaking/cleaning/clibrating.

I started using a q-tip on the tip while the probe is still submerged. This is nice because my CO2 stays connected to the controller and will still turn on or off freely. I began doing this about 8 months ago... I use 2 q-tips lightly on the probe tip(fours tip ends), and have just pulled the probe out today to inspect it further after 8 months of this new method.

I checked the calibration before and after the pull and soaking/cleaning/calibrating, and found a .02 variance after eight months... This is amazing since it had a lot larger scope before I started periodic, underwater maintenance. I believe the prior variance was 1.4 after two months of no tip maintenance.

I am satisfied that this newly developed method has saved me ALOT of CO2 downtime and soak time/clean time... over the last eight months. So I only have to perform the S/C/C once in eight months(and really @ .02, isn't a necessity) compared to the NEED to perform S/C/C every two months.

Just wanted to share the most recent breakthrough in my hobby!

IME...

BTW my probes are lasting longer this way! If I keep the buildup/scum off the tip periodically, I dont have to scrub so hard and risk scratching the globe end...
