i am planning on getting two female perlmutts and a male yellow lab. I was wondering if they had babies if they would look cool. I dont plan on selling them or giving them away to people other than my neighbor who i will make sure doesnt sell them or give them away. I assume they would be easy to crossbreed. am i right? also does anyone have a picture of a perlmutt/yellow lab mix?

Wow its so tempting to not post a response to this because of the OTHER reccent hybrid discussion... but why the heck would you want to purposely create hybrids!? Fish are beautiful in thier natural state, dont go messing around with nature. I think it would just look like a dull-colored yellow lab. 95% of african hybrids have poor coloration.

Since they are different colors they might not be interested in each other, but because they are in the same genus there is a good possibility of breeding.

You sound like you have a lot of research to do before you commit to ANY type of fish, judging by your 20 or so other topics. :p

I agree with LuvMyKribs. First, hybrids are never as attractive as the species they come from. Second, it sounds as if you are deliberately setting out to create hybrids; otherwise, why not just buy all the same species? From the standpoint of the serious hobbyist, that's just irresponsible. Third, we just did this discussion and it isn't going to do us any good to re-hash all of the same arguments fifteen minutes later. It will benefit the hobby more if we spend our time and effort more productively. Go do a water change, for example.

So...say "goodnight, Gracie."
