Both stores are selling plants in cased in a plastic container and one of the plants is called "tropical fern".

Is that the same as java fern just with a different name? If not, is it even a true aquatic plant and can someone give me more information about it.

Thanks

The pics I dug up with a quick google search look like Java Fern to me.

yes they're java ferns, all the plants that they have are true aquatic plants, grown hydroponically. its really a pretty neat little contraption

Actually, only a few of those tubed plants are truly aquatic. "Tropica Fern" however, is indeed java fern.

You might also want to check and see if PETCO is selling the java ferns from their own tanks (not tubed). They're usually both bigger and cheaper than the tubed ones.

Hmmm, well, some are deffinately not full aquatic (mondo grass, garden plants, etc.) as I've seen...

Just so you see what I found:

and the text that went with it was:
The fern is . . . from . . . petco

they called it a "Tropical Fern" . . . here's a pic of the tank: ... it's the plant in the back right corner.
