Petsmart mixed cichlid tanks African Id

I picked up an African Cichlid from the Mixed tank. I was wondering if anyone knows what types of cichlids are normally put in there. I am pretty sure it is a melanochromis from lake malawi but not sure it is light blue with two faint horizontal blueish black stripes and a couple of egg spots on the anal fin? Also has a black stripe along is back fin and tail fin with some faint yellowing on the same fins it is about 2 1/2 -3 in in lenght it gets along with my yellow lab and ice blue zebra.

Personally, I've seen chipokae, red zebra, cobalt zebra, auratus, kenyi, yellow lab, and maingano at my local PetSmart.

sounds like Malanochromis to me. which one? a picture would help.

Sounds kinda like Melanochromis johanii (mainly because you said it has some yellow on the fins, and these guys turn from yellow to blue/black if they are males). http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=288

I can get more pics this is all I could get small enough i can email larger photos.Could this be m. joanjohnsonae or m. lepidiadaptes or M chipokae male?

See my above post... I still believe its M. johanii due to the yellow edges on the fins. Could likely be a hybrid as well.

well I seen some agression last night he is now very dark with verticle stripes present. He turned out to be extremely agressive killing my yellow lab last night and beating up my ice blue vey sad day to say the least. He is going back to the lfs I have had the lab for over a year, thanks for the feedback in this thread.
