Been looking on Ebay at available digital PH meters. Prices including delivery upwards from about £15. Has anyone got or used one? Are they recommended? Are the cheap pen ones as good as the more expensive ones?

Your views please.
Tony.

I'm not sure how readily available they are in the UK, but the PinPoint pH meters are excellent and very easy to use.

That's exactly what I was going to say. I have one of these as well and I love it. You can use a battery or an AC adaptor. It also comes with a 10-foot cord on the probe and the calibration fluid is inexpensive.

I wouldn't say they're absolutely necessary but they're great to have and extremely accurate. It helps you know what your pH is down to the hundredth. You can easily switch it from tank to tank or test your water change water without using the liquid tests. You can turn it off in between uses or keep it on and hanging in your tank if you want.

Yes, I too have an american marine pinpoint ph monitor. Highly recommended.
Here's a link to one on Ebay if you can handle shipping.

That's the guy I bought mine from! Bought a nitrate monitor from him too. They were a little cheaper than on some other sites. Thinking of buying a calcium monitor from him too but not sure yet. Anyway, the ones I bought from him arrived in 1-2 days (of course, it helped being in the same state :D).

ha ha ha...little bit different when we live in the UK....prolly more like 1 - 2 weeks delivery...its a shame really, its the shipping that kills us UK people...people always post all the stuff on here, and us in the poor UK can either not get, or have to pay an absolute fortune to get it...

Oh well...
