I'm thinking about getting a hi fin shark, but the info I've read says that the adults look very different from the juvies.

So I was wondering if anybody has a pic of a large adult specimin. All I can find on the net are pics of juvies.

Thanks in advance,
Serg

You do know that they are colder water fish and do get anywhere from 24 to 48 inches long?

They are a pond fish. Not recommended for aquariums.

Thanks nuriel. All the pics I've seen look like that, so maybe I should be looking for juvie pics? I don't see a dramatic difference.

Yes, I've done my research already. From what I've found, they accept a wide range of temperatures (up to 82), and grow to be around 30-32" (48"? You sure? Have you kept one before?).

Mine will be kept in a 180g community aquarium with the temperature at 80. It will be fed an diet fit for omnivores, but with extra veggies since this fish likes those more than it does meaty foods.

Wow...so that's what that wierd looking fish was that I saw at PetCo recently ! They didn't have it labeled and I was curious....not because I wanted one...lol...I could tell it was a fish that got pretty big...weird looking !

Those are some pretty nice fish! Two things would keep me from buying thise fish...one I don't have the tank space and two they're an endangered species. I didn't realize that. Very interesting article ScottoMacD. Hopefully more people will read this and decide against purchasing one of these fish.
