I'm wondering about this marine phytoplanton suppument for filter feeders. it's dried phytoplanton plus vitamins and such. i'm thinking about useing it for the first food for my betta fry, to see how it does, or just to feed to the BBS so they would last longer...

Well, bettas are carnivorous and phytoplankton is essentially plant material. I think you'd be better off starting with infusoria, then powdered flakes, then baby brine, etc.
BBS is generally too large for betta fry so I would definitely side with gcvt on this one and recommend infusoria or green water as the first food for them...
isn't infusoria just fw phytoplankon? i have floating plants and some algea growth in the breeding tank, would that be good?
Infusoria are generally zooplankton. They are the next step up in the food chain from phytoplankton. Kind of like really tiny cows.
i know the food chain, just i though infusoria (green water) was the plant part, and that daphnia and such were ones considered the only fw zooplankton. i guess i though wrong...
