Okay, I have pretty much everything in place now. Yes, cheesy background, but it looks nice to me :).

Any recommendations on fish? In our 20 we have rasboras, blue tetras, black neon tetras, a platy, and a diamond tetra. I'm thinking of keeping just one kind of fish.

What ae the dimensions of this tank?

Maj0rFiSh, it's a standard 10 gallon tank, not sure about the dimensions.

Shekoi, yes it's fully cycled. I cut half of an AC200 sponge that was running in my Eclipse 6 tank.

I've got a 10g with just cherry barbs (okay, there's one oto, but he's there on temporary algae assignment ;)) and snails - a species tank can be really fun. Cherrys swim at every level, and they're sweet, funny little fish. They play constantly, and make me smile every time I walk into the room :)

Cherry barbs are cool fish. Or if you could live with just the one fish think about getting a paradise fish. Look them up, they are pretty cool.

For a 10 gallon tank, I would recommend a school of small fish, nothing too fancy. Barbs are very cool, but should be in groups of at least 4-5 if not more (less than that, they get aggressive). Stick to Cherry Barbs or Blushing barbs because the are on the smaller size. If you plan on upgrading your tank, you could go with Tiger or Tinfoil barbs, but beware the Tiger barbs are a little bit aggressize to other fish with longer fins.

For a little bit of variety I also have some Leapard Danios in my tank, these are very entertaining fish. Very fast and cute! It also never hurts to get a bottom feeder, I would recommend a Cory catfish, plecos usually grow too large for a 10 gallon.

Good luck!!

Cory cats need to be in groups as well, 3 absolute minimum, 5 better, more even better than that.

The paradise fish looks very interesting, but it seems that it's too big for a 10. A bunch of online resources say it needs 20 or 29 gallons minimum. Is that right??

Barbs is a good idea, I'm going to see what the LFSs have. We had a tiger barb in our 20 gallon until a few days ago when it decides to jumping out of the water and into the hood...twice. :(
