Hi, I'm picking up a used 36g bowfront with accessories on saturday, do I need to do any more than rinse them off before setting up and moving in my fish and plants?

I would just clean it up with OxyClean or vinegar since you won't really know the history of the tank. OxyClean breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and rinses off quite cleanly, so it is much safer than bleach or soaps.

if the tank and equipment has been empty and dry for a while, I would just clean with hot water and elbow grease as necessary.

If it just had fish removed and still wet..I would bleach everything heavy.

Bleach, then rinse, then vinegar, then rinse, then rinse again to make sure you killed of everything.

:iagree::iagree: Finish it off with a good rinse with 3x Declor

thanks for the help. It's an upgrade so I will be moving substrate, plants and filter media to the bowfront. I won't have to cycle the tank. but I will watch for spikes and do water changes as indicated by my test readings.
