How big to pictus catfish usually grow to in an aquarium? I have read anywhere from 5.5 inches all the way up to 10.5 inches.
Thanks

From what i have read i think it depends on if it is a peruvian or colombian pictus catfish. Peruvian get to about 6 inches and colombian get to about 10 inches. I am not sure where i got the info from, but i will do some google searches and see if i can come up with the website.

EDIT:
Have found a little info but not exactly what im looking for. Make sure that the kind of pictus catfish you are talking about is the Pimelodus pictus as they are the smaller pictus catfish and only get to about 6 inches, but frequently get 4-5 inches

EDIT: check out this http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/pimelodi/pimelodu/276_F.PHP

it has a few small notes on the difference between peruvian and colombian also noting that the colombian is the bigger species of the two.

I can not find the exact info that i had seen before but check out the site in my above post, it has great info.

Another great site for general info on the pictus cat is : http://fish.mongabay.com/species/Pimelodus_pictus.html

Check out the links at the bottom also.

Whatever you do make sure that the fish is a Pimelodus pictus as they are the ones that get to 6 inches.
