i have one pacu left and the oscar left in my tank due to the ammonia poisoning and to follow the ich that my tank recieved. So now i have treated it and in the process and whatever fish survive i am giving away instead of seeing them grow to big in my tank.

Exactly which "Pike Cichlid" are you talking about? You know you don't have to go big to go aggressive.

Yea, there ones that grow to 10 inches, I believe that may fit in a 55 gallon tank.

Yeah, if you want a group of aggressive fish to live in a 55g tank, consider Exodon paradoxus. You could have a group of 8 in there, easily.

I second the idea to go for some smaller but just as deadly inhabitants. I keep african cichlids in my 55 and they would kill anything if I tried to add it. Meaner than pirananas and beautiful colors- you cant go wrong with auratus, kenyi and crabo if you want to see action!!!! They feed mostly on algea but they have EXTREMLY aggressive personalities. If you tap on my glass of the fifty five they all come swarming and fins flared, with gaping mouths. Every few months I will toss in a few( like,5) guppy fry when they are available-to just watch the chase. ;)

I bought one pike cichlid yesterday and all that bad lary does is hide in the cave and the log Ihave in my tank. Are they nocturnal? I also have feeder fish in there and he hasnt eaten them yet either! is this normal behavior..
